Ate at Crispellis last night with the kids and another family. As always, Crispellis pizza was awesome. this could be the very best Detroit style pizza in town, including Buddy's. Service was great. Busboy came over promptly to clean the excess plates from our tables. These guys get it.

I've been here three or four times at both the West Bloomfield and Berkeley location and have enjoyed my experience each time. I've had the white pie, Mac n cheese, and chowder soup and it's all been amazing! My mac n cheese was amazing and I will definitely get it again. The service has been great the first two times I was there. Our waiter was a little distracted the last time we went, but I will definitely be back and can't wait. I love the modern chic vibe of the restaurants. It's a totally cool atmosphere and great to see these in MI!

I ordered the "Detroit Style" deep dish pizza - $14.95. It arrived after a reasonable wait. The staff was competent. The facility is quite nice. The patio is a nice option. While it was not obvious while eating it, the pizza was a salt lick. ~Fifteen minutes after leaving, I was craving water ... and continued to crave water all night. Why only 2-stars? The 2-stars reflect only this pizza item. I would not order this item again. FWIW, the pepperoni was sliced very thin, almost prosciutto-thin. I prefer thick-sliced pepperoni. WiFi - Do not use for anything that requires a login. CCW friendly; if you are not drinking. Will I return yes? I want to try their reuben and salads and (another) pizza item.

This place has been on my list for quite some time now. In fact, the first time I wanted to try this place out was at their first location in Berkley, but I never got around to it. However, recently after work, and having noticed a new West Bloomfield location pop up, I decided to give it a go! It was a Friday, and both Husband and I were craving pizza, and I picked one up to take home! Parking is a breeze, and plentiful. I honestly was a little confused on where I was supposed to go to place my order, even though I had read what the format of the restaurant was. There was a nice lady in the front of the foyer that asked your party size, and once I notified her that I was going to place a to-go order, she directed me to the cashier registers up front. There is a large menu against the wall on your right side that is colorful and easy to read. I went with a Detroit-style chicken, onions, and spinach pizza. Chicken is an extra $2 but it is among the juiciest that I've had, so I was happy. Plus, they were not skimpy with the amount, but it wasn't overdone. Very well balanced, and LOVED the crust. It was fluffy, and had that crisp edge that we've come to love about Detroit-style pizza, but most importantly, not greasy! yay! :) At $14.25, it had 10 large squares and was very satisfying. It was enough for the two of us over 2 meals. Talk about a good value. As much as we loved the pizza, the other menu items sound good too, especially the dessert. Décor is rustic, modern, and a little vintage. Love the natural wood elements, and the off white walls. It is comfortable to be in, and it was a delight to look around soak up the small design elements as I waited for our pizza. BTW, pizza cook time was pretty quick, given the Friday night dinner time. It only took about 15 minutes, and I was on my way. Staff was super nice and friendly, and I look forward to coming back to actually dine in. :)

Come here all the time for a quick and delicious lunch. Salads are so fresh, soup is delish and they have a great selection. Definitely recommend!!

Came here with the family for the first time for dinner. Loved the seating options: inside, outside, with waiter or not. Great when you have kids. The menu is diverse and the flavors are fresh. Had the deep dish pizza (Detroit style) and was very pleased. Not too heavy, perfectly crisp crust and great flavor in the sauce and toppings. Great atmosphere where you can stay as long as you want. Whether it be 5 minutes, or sharing a bottle of wine and sitting on the patio. Will definitely be back.

Crispelli's was our saving grace this past Friday after a less-than-stellar half hour with no food or wine at Prime 29's happy hour (see other review). The inside of this place is so bright and fun - our spirits were immediately lifted. Since my happy hour cohort is gluten free (yes, legit gluten free, not a dietary preference or a sensitivity so put down your pitchforks!), we were very happy to hear that they have a GF menu! We ordered the shrimp and chorizo pizza to split, the tomato soup and the vanilla gelato with a half carafe of pinor noir. ALL DELISH. The gluten free crust is a little dry on the edges with no toppings, but overall very good with the toppings that we ordered. The tomato soup was flavorful with some tomato pieces with it and the bread it comes with (I can eat the breads) was buttery goodness. Some of the gelato had a weird texture and looked a little freezer-burnt, but the vanilla gelato was fantastic. I would come back here either for dine-in or take-out any time. The regular pizza also looked awesome, so I will have to try that next. Thanks for happying-up our Friday, Crispelli's!

Just ordered and picked up 3 cobb salads to go. These salads are the most disappointing excuse for salads that I have ever seen. None of the salads have as advertised the roast turkey. I ordered mine without the blue cheese and did not get any substitution - you know like cheddar or swiss cheese. I essentially got a takeout box full of lettuce, which is very wet and not particularly fresh. The garlic bread was cold & dried out, might as well have been melba toast, and the roll very small and not fresh. I will cross Crispelli's off of my list - you are not the only game in town.

Love this chain. First tried the one in Berkley and then this one. The food is yummy and the people are Always friendly! The only thing I didn't really like about this was that the patio seating just gives you a view of all the orchard lake traffic :/ eh

Worst pizza place ever. I visited this past weekend to talk with a manager (for a second time) to rent a room for a private event. The prices we were given were great. So we tried a number of menu items. Unfortunately, we were told the marketing manager and the general manager were too busy to see us. Awesome! Here we are eating in the restaurant, willing to bring in a group and they won't even speak to us? We must have gone to the hostess three times in an hour to ask if we could just speak to someone! The poor girl was left in such a lurch by her absent team members. They kept saying "you can email her". GTFO. I send enough emails at work, if I'm going to drop a grand on a private room rental get your ass up and come speak to me like an adult who can manage multiple things at a time. Finally after an hour, a manager finally came out. She took down all of our information and as we were ready to walk out, indicated the room rental would be an extra $1,500 than it was quoted! I understand the need for this, but someone should have told us before we tried all the food and were waiting for an hour for someone to acknowledge our existence. A very frustrating ordeal to say the least. Look, I get it, you can make more money with others than my group. That's fine. Go do that then and don't string me along. Other notes: parking is hectic and limited. Store flow and layout is confusing and cramped, especially on the first time. Chicken is too heavy for the thin crust pizza, doesn't hold up well.

Have been here multiple times. Thin crust pizza is great. They also have very good paninis. I've tried the veggie one as well as the Italian.

I honestly can't quite figure this place out. There's one side that's very large and bright and you go up to the counter and order. Then you take a seat and they bring your food out to you. If you want a something from the bar, you go get it yourself. Then there's a smaller more cozy side that serves the exact same food but you get a waiter like in a traditional restaurant. And the prices are the same no mater what side you sit on. I recommend the full service Club Room. David and I each ordered the small ceaser salad and it was crisp, fresh and delicious. I had the margarita pizza and David ordered the pepperoni. Both were thin crust and excellent. I've also been to the one on Woodward and they appear to be the same for the most part. We'd certainly go back since it's hard to find a good thin crust pizza.

Great food, excellent service and a cool, rustic modern atmosphere. Our pizzas were served hot and fresh -- I will say that the crust was cooked to a perfect crispyness and the sauce was deliciously herbacious. Our table ordered several pizzas including a gluten free pie, and it was also fantastic. We all split the Crispelli's entre salad as well -- it, too, was excellent! Fresh veggies, a light vinnagrette, and the perfect size for a table of five to split. I highly recommend this place to any food lover!

Unusual type of Restaurant--After you are seated! They then put a Reserved sign on your table! You get up & go to different Food stations, they have, and order & pay there!!!-Give them your table number & its brought to you-when ready!!! Ordered a big Cobb salad-It had lots of blue cheese / bacon/chicken-etc on it! Loved the Asian dressing which had a nice sweetish kick to it- Husband had a big turkey sandwich & a cup of soup! Place was a little noisy but it didn't matter! They should have 2 pop stations-since we were sitting directly on the other side of the restaurant to get refills-we needed one closer! I'm sure the waitress would of brought me one if i had asked! They all were very helpful and aimed to please!! Will be going back soon! Will try their Pizza next!!! Prices seem reasonable also!

I was SOOOO looking forward to eating here and was severely disappointed. Although the pizzas look amazing, and it's cool to see your pizzas personally baked in the oven, the taste was BLEGH. First of all the dough ended up being soggy with the minimal toppings I got and the the sauce was flat. I also ordered the ginormous french toast and ended up only eating one bite and throwing the rest away. The french toast was too soggy and waay waay waaaaay too greasy and sweet.

  • Grande B.

Great place to eat! I love their wood-fire Neapolitan pizzas and I love their French toast!! I might even give them 4.5 stars if I could. Food-wise, the West Bloomfield location is just as good as the Berkley location and it is a lot bigger than Berkley as well! I believe the menu is bigger than Berkley's too... This place looks great! It was pretty busy when we went in but we were still seated within a couple of minutes. Crispelli's is a unique dining experience because they seat you and then you have to get back up and order your food, pick it up and bring it back to your table. You mostly serve yourself, but then they buss your table for you. It's a little chaotic to me, but overall it's a fun experience and I highly recommend it. I'm so glad they opened a second location in West Bloomfield - we'll be back many, many more times.

Fresh food that comes out extremely quickly! I love the thin crust pizza here (you get it in under (10 minutes). The caesar salad is awesome as well and I've been meaning to try the desserts. The cafeteria style ordering and service makes it quick for lunches (even when it's busy) and the prices are very reasonable for what you get.

I like their Woodward location, but now I've started to go here instead. What I like about Crispelli's is the workers all seem to be happy to be working! Twice, they have made a mistake with our order, and both times they fixed it immediately with a better solution than I would have proposed! For me, the formula for the restaurant is perfect, and we have started to branch out with new menu options. The pizzas are always good, the fries are tasty, the Crispelli salad is perfect, and the desserts rotate around to there is always something new to try. I had a warm chocolate chip cookie while I was waiting for my food and the lemon sorbetto was pure lemon.

We had a gathering here over the weekend that seated 40 people in the sun room and it was absolutely perfect! Their thin crust brick oven pizzas are fantastic and their salads with home-made dressings are light, tasty and refreshing. Portions are generous and we usually end up taking some home for later. Ambiance is like no other place in the Detroit Metro area - very cool, rustic, outdoorsy-European-Market place kind of feel in Berkley and a bit warmer feeling in W. Bloomfield. The sun-room with strung white lights is a perfect spot for a gathering of 20-50 people or so... and it's amazing how warm it is in there - despite the negative temps we've had recently. Heated floors help with that, I'm told. The management: Kevin and Steve, were fantastic to work with and the hostess, Janelle, did an outstanding job. My guests were all very impressed with Crispelli's food, service and ambiance and everyone said they want to come back with their families and try other things on the menu. We felt the staff catered to our every need and we were so grateful we chose Crispelli's as our venue.

5 stars for the pizza alone!! Really good thin crust pizza. Gourmet toppings and at a fairly good price. Satisfies your pizza craving and is wayyy better than any other local chain pizza joint. 3 stars for the rest of the menu. I have tried the tomato soup, caesar salad, and the caprese sandwich. All were very underwhelming in flavor. The tomato soup was kind of watery and bland. The caesar salad was just romaine lettuce that was thrown onto a plate with grated parmesan on top. The caprese sandwich was bread with unseasoned tomatoes, mozzarella and basil. I understand that is what a caprese sandwich is, but it was just really boring and again, bland. All of the soups and salads come with this thin piece of bread drenched in olive oil that has some pesto on it. I couldn't believe how greasy it was.. I will be returning to Crispelli's but solely for pizza. I really did enjoy the thin crust pizza and it was on our table in less than 5 minutes. I was pleasantly surprised that they serve wine and beer. I think that is a nice touch; especially if you are coming for dinner. I like that they provide other options other than pizza on their menu. I just wish they were executed a little better.

Really quick and good food, fast food timing and good restaurant quality Italian food. Pizza yummy, very good crust and toppings, salads excellent and with interesting toppings, pastas good, especially the ravioli with mushroom sauce which was really excellent. The breads are also very good, and many of the salads come with a roll and a slice of crisp garlic bread, mmm. They also are great about modifying orders, e.g. putting a salad ingredient on the side. The only downside is that the wine is surprisingly poor quality. But definitely go for the food!

The hostess kindly explained how seating and ordering is handled-easy to understand and made sense to me! After we ordered our food we took a step to the right and bought our drinks. I had the grilled salmon sandwich--so delicious! My son and his friend split a Detroit-style pizza which they nearly finished. I look forward to returning and trying a thin crust pizza.

This place was a surprise! Very cute indoor seating room with historic pictures on the wall. I really liked the pizza, the classic margherita was my favorite. Some of my party complained it was too salty, but I liked it. The service was pretty slow, but it seemed like they only had one waiter. Bland and boring. I had the kale salad. The dressing was odd. The kale was mushy. I also had the tomato bisque. It was nothing special. The bf ordered the minestrone and said the same. The Margarita pizza was a crime against pizza. The sauce was watery and bland. Not in a hurry to come back.

Was very happy to hear Crispelli's opened a new location in WB. Friends have raved about the Berkeley location so was excited to try it out for lunch on a recent visit. Everything looked absolutely delicious and fresh. I wasn't in the mood for pizza but it looked amazing. I am a huge thin crust fan and the pizza that I saw coming out of the brick oven made me regret my choice of a kale salad and soup. The food arrived shortly after ordering and it was great. Service was friendly and quick. Seems like an easy family choice as there is something for everyone. Can't wait to return and try some of the baked goodies and pizza.

Like most other places in WB this place is way hyped. We ordered a pepperoni pizza and a caesar salad. The dressing on the caesar was awful. I know anchovies are used in caesar dressing but this was just a briny overpowering grainy mess. The pizza itself was meh. Lacking in flavor and not "authentic" by any means. The whole flow of the restaurant is awful. The cashiers just grab whoever is the loudest and rudest person in the crowd to take their order, no worries if you are actually next in line. We won't be returning.

Today, I discovered this wonderful place. I ordered a carry out which was very quick and well, so yummy. I had the Caprese Panini with a side of Tomato Bisque... Perfect combo, I dipped the panini in the tomato and it was heavenly. I will definitely be back!!!!

Pretty awesome all around. Great variety of menu options without going overboard on menu items. Whether it's pizza, sandwiches, salads, or burgers you're bound to please pretty much everybody. Good atmosphere (great place to hang out) Quick turnaround (get your food in under 5 minutes) Great food (especially the grilled veggie panini and Detroit style pizza) Give it a go. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I promised myself if I ever had a meal here that blew me away, I would post about it. Their burgers are a MUST try item. I got the mushroom and truffle mayo burger, and what an amazing decision that was. It easily rivals the highly praised burger right across the street at Red Coat. Cooked to perfection with a real, deep char and unbeatable flavor and juiciness. I was not expecting to enjoy it that much. Be sure to pair it with Parmesan fries. Their house-made kettle chips are tasty, but I can't eat a burger without fries. And again, I want to commend Crispelli's for their excellent service each and every visit. I will be back very soon!

Love Crispelli's! It is great to have one in this area, though I admit to driving to the one in Berkeley. The food is great at this location too, though I definitely miss the full dessert case, specifically the creme brûlée, which is amazing. The first time I came to this location I brought someone who I had talked the creme brûlée up to, and it wasn't there, so that was a bit disappointing. But as I said, the food is great here too.

Let me preface this by saying, I really want to love this place! I love the other location and was so exicted for them to open in West Bloomfield. We've been to the new location twice now and they still just seem disorganized and there's a lot of room for improvement. The first time we came they had been open only one week and it was a disaster. The pizza was good, but I swear it would have been easier to make it myself than go through their convoluted order and pickup system. This time, I ordered a burger. First thing I noticed was that the bun was cold and they had thrown a very wet piece of lettuce in the basket which had made most of my chips cold and soggy. I had to dry the lettuce off with a napkin before I could put it on my burger. The burger itself was a disappointment. The burger patty is 1/3 lb which isn't a lot to work with, then they pound it so flat that it just disappears in the big, slightly dry onion bun.

Pretty damn good and quick despite the crowded entrance way. Was surprised how nice it was to sit by the window, in the covered patio, with rugrats abound and have the music drown out everything. Salmon sandwich was some of the best salmon I have had. Nice time

I really enjoyed it! Nice looking restaurant. Good food. Great selection. Only thing I would suggest is for them to make cheese sticks other than bosco sticks. Fresh baked would be better!

Love Crispelli's. Super glad to have one in our neck of the woods. Food is great. Love that there is food for the kids and healthy choices for me! Great for the family.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
